I’ve been thinking about how strange it is that we can send something to the other side of the world and have it arrive instantly. So I made a place where you don’t have to. A place for words that don’t need to arrive right away. Write a letter, put it in the mailbox, and let it travel. The farther away it is, the longer the journey. And while you wait, there might be a letter waiting for you too. Maybe some things are better when they take a little while.

I’ve been thinking about how strange it is that we can send something to someone on the other side of the world, and they can receive it almost instantly.
So I made a place where you don’t have to.
A place for words that don’t need to arrive right away.
You can write a letter to someone you know, or someone you’ve never met. Put it in the mailbox and let it travel.
Letters are picked up at different times, carried across distance, and delivered when they arrive. The farther away someone is, the longer the journey.
And while you’re waiting, there might be a letter waiting for you too.
I wanted to see what happens when we bring a little distance, anticipation and surprise back into the way we talk to each other.
So I built it.
It’s very early, and I’m looking for a few people who are willing to try it with me.
Maybe some things are just better when they take a little while.
