poqui is an audio guide for iPhone that works on any street. Press one button and hear a 90-second true story about exactly where you stand, from real sources, legends labelled. Fifty European cities picked by hand. Your first three stories are free.

Hi Product Hunt,
Audio guides cover the Colosseum. Nobody covers the street you took to get there, or the main square of a town you'd never heard of. We wanted something that does.
poqui is one button. Press it and, a few seconds later, a voice tells you about ninety seconds of history about exactly where you're standing: why the square has that shape, what the corner building replaced. Then it stops and points your eyes at something you can actually see.
What we cared about:
Real sources, legends labelled. Each story is written only from what's on record, mostly Wikipedia, in the place's own language as well as yours. The sources sit under every story. Every name and every number must appear in them, or the story is fixed before you hear it. Legends are marked "Tradition, not verified".
Fifty European cities, picked by hand. They run from Paris, Prague and Venice to Ljubljana, Valletta and Reykjavík, with nine places in each. That's a thousand stories, in English and Italian, that a person read and corrected against their sources. Outside the fifty, the button works on any street.
No route, no auto-play. You press when you're curious. That's it.
Ask it things. After a story, ask a follow-up, typed or out loud. If the sources don't say, it tells you so.
No account, no ads, no tracking.
Your first three stories are free. poqui Plus is $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US. It brings up to 40 new stories a month (300 a year on the yearly plan), the fifty cities and the five-minute Go deeper chapters. Replaying a story is always free.
We'd love to know where you pressed it and whether the story was worth ninety seconds. If one gets something wrong, "Report an error" is one tap, and we read every report.
