A private Markdown notes app for macOS. Every note lives in one file on your Mac. No account, no cloud, no tracking.

Hi Product Hunt! Plainkeep is my first app on the Mac App Store.
I wanted notes that don't depend on the app I write them in. So Plainkeep keeps every note in one file on your Mac, db.json. Open it in TextEdit and your notes are there exactly as you typed them. If you stop using Plainkeep tomorrow, you still have everything. It's offline, No account, No cloud, No tracking.
What it does:
Markdown styled as you type. Headings, lists and quotes look right, and the # and - stay where you put them
Folders, pinned notes, a Trash, and search across every note
Keyboard shortcuts for everything you do all day
Put the file in iCloud Drive or Dropbox and your other Mac opens the same notes. If both change it at once, it keeps both versions
An optional password lock that turns the file into an AES-256 encrypted zip
There's no account and no server of mine in the middle. The app makes no network connections of its own, and it has no analytics.
Free for 10 notes, with every feature except the lock. Pro is $14.99, paid once, no subscription. macOS 13 or later.
I'd love your take on three things:
1. Is 10 free notes enough to decide whether you like it?
2. What would make you switch from what you use now?
3. Anything that feels clunky or un-Mac-like in the first five minutes.
I'll be here all day and will reply to every comment.
