I am a fiction writer myself, and I got frustrated with the choice between minimalist writing apps that feel too limited and powerful tools that make creative writing feel like an office job.
So I built Pievid Writer.
It is a local-first desktop bookmaking studio designed for long-form fiction. It combines manuscript writing with visual story structure: multi-branch timelines, character mapping, drag-and-drop scenes and chapters, searchable notes, and a full book design workflow with professional typesetting and export.

How does the typesetting handle things like widow control and chapter heading styles for print-ready PDFs, or do I need to wrestle with those manually before export?

@lhan1427713 Hi thanks for your message. We have a sandbox version on our website. Just click 'desktop demo'; You choose a theme for your book under 'Format'. The Author can upload own fonts and ornaments and create own theme, if they don't like the provided themes. You can override the theme font and choose from ornaments. The sandbox has all the functions except for import/export. https://pievidproductions.com/
