@siddygups great question. we host on amazon s3. since it's a static file, we can just directly host off of s3, so it can stand up to significant traffic.
@siddygups@billychasen Looks interesting, so just want to clarify that it's completely unlimited hosting?
That's the main reason why I switched my company's product pages to Squarespace, so that yesterday when we were on Product Hunt didn't have to worry about hosting/servers at all.
Guess since you're only hosting the html file though can't get too heavy.
Interesting. Might be the simplest system I've ever seen for domains and hosting. I've always wondered why more people don't bundle the domain registration with the hosting in a single fee.
Love the simplicity and this is something I basically do anyway -- I almost always start out pointing it to a single Amazon AWS static page.
@billychasen -- how are you thinking about the API? I imagine it will allow you to update the entire page via the API call...what are some of the functions you think will be most interesting?
Hey PH! We're really excited to launch this today. Many of us have gone through the hassle of setting up new domains. It doesn't need to be so complicated or cost so much. With picnic, we've reduced all the noise, clutter, and endless forms down to the absolute minimum to get something up and running.
ourfirstpicnic.com was the first live domain we created and took 30 seconds to make and 3 minutes to go live.
We're here to answer any questions you might have. Hope you enjoy!
