I'm an indie maker and I created this product because I had developed extensive expertise in text matching over many years working on unrelated information security projects. I've worked in information security where industry standard practice in PII (personal identifiable information) scanning is almost entirely based on regular expressions which are actually really bad at finding PII with low false-positive rates. These tools are essentially an extremely expensive list of regular expressions you manage. PII Crawler uses new techniques for finding PII with less false-positives than the competition at a fraction of the price.
