Hi Product Hunt,
I'm Efe, and Penvelope is mine.
It started with two observations that turned out to be the same problem. My inbox was full every morning and none of it was written for me as a person. And some people I care about, the ones living alone or far from family, had nobody who asked how their week actually went.
So I built a pen pal subscription. You answer a few questions when you join and pick how often you want to hear from your pen pal. Then letters start arriving in your inbox. You choose who writes to you and how warm their letters are. You reply whenever you feel like it, and nobody rushes you. Your pen pal remembers what you told them, so the next letter picks up where you left off.
Two things I decided early on. There is no app, because the whole point is fewer things asking for your attention. And every letter is written and reviewed by a real person. AI helps in the background by keeping track of what you've shared, so nothing slips through.
Every plan starts with 7 days free and your card isn't charged until day 8. If you'd rather test the water first, the site will send you one letter free, no card needed.
I built this thinking of people far from home, and of parents who live alone. If that sounds like someone in your life, I'd genuinely like to hear what you think, including what feels off. I'm here all day and I'll answer everything.

One small thing that would make this even more special: a way to pick the general vibe of your pen pal before the first letter arrives, like whether you want them to be chatty or more reserved, or into books versus travel. It would help that first message land a little closer to home.

@zilanaktunt0mb Thanks Zilan, and fair point. Part of this exists today: when you join you answer a few questions and choose who writes to you and how warm their letters are, so chatty versus reserved is covered. The interests part is the gap. Books versus travel is exactly what the first letter should already know, and adding it to the signup questions is a small change. It is going on the list, thank you for the nudge.
