I’m a high schooler and developer, and I built Pathway because I was tired of seeing college counselors charge students $300+/hour for basic application guidance. I wanted to level the playing field for high-quality admissions strategy and mock interview prep, so any student could access it for free. Initially, I thought about using a standard cloud-based LLM API. However, charging for an app that was designed to level the playing field felt weird. To solve this, I completely shifted my approach: I used apple's new SystemLanguageModel library, so the entire app runs locally on-device. I trained it off hundreds, if not thousands of previous college admits, and their applications, letting it give accurate feedback every time. Shrinking a counselor into a 15mb app wasn't easy, but I am proud with the final product. Please check the app out, and let me know if there are any features I should add, or I should change.
