I built ozange because I found a $12/month charge on my card for an online service I had not opened in eight months. I went looking for a simple app to track this and everything I found was either trying to connect to my bank account, paywalled, or bloated with features I did not need.
So I built my own. A place to manually log subscriptions dates what I pay for. I also can see the yearly total, which came as a shock!
The problem is not that people are careless. It is that subscriptions are designed to be forgotten. Free trials that convert silently. Annual plans buried in your email history.
My approach started very simple and stayed simple on purpose: no bank integrations, no AI, no dashboard that takes ten minutes to set up. Just your subscriptions, the reminders by email and the total you probably did not want to see.
