I got tired of using a different website for every type of file. When working on projects, I constantly need to check Markdown, CSV, JSON, YAML, HTML, Excel files, and more. One website is great for Markdown, another for JSON, another for CSV — and after a while, I had a collection of browser tabs just for viewing files. I also work on projects in different languages and with multiple clients. That means I often handle documents, API responses, configuration files, exports, and other data that I don't want to upload to random third-party websites. So I thought: why not build one simple tool that solves all of these problems? That became Online File Viewer — one place to open, preview, format, search, and work with different file formats. Privacy was especially important to me. Since I may be working with client data or sensitive project files, I didn't want the files to be uploaded to a server just to view them. Everything runs directly in the browser, so the files stay on my device. The goal is simple: one tool instead of many websites, for all the files I work with — privately and conveniently. It started as a tool I needed for myself, and I decided to make it available to anyone who has the same problem.
