Obsfly is a Datadog alternative for database monitoring built for modern engineering teams. Monitor slow queries, query latency, plan regressions, lock waits, and blocking trees across Postgres, MySQL, and ClickHouse. Deploy as SaaS, BYOC, or fully self-hosted. Open-source agents, predictable pricing, and deep database visibility without enterprise observability costs.

Hey Hunters ๐ โ I'm Fidel Castro, founder of Obsfly.
I built Obsfly because every time a Postgres or MySQL query went sideways
at 2am, the only tool that could've caught it was priced like a Series B
round. Datadog DBM is ~$105/database/month, SaaS-only, and the bill grows
with every shard you add. Most teams I talked to weren't paying for the
features โ they were paying for the lock-in.
Obsfly is a Datadog DBM alternative built for the AI era:
โ Per-query latency (p50/p95/p99), plan regressions, lock chains, deadlocks
โ 9 databases โ Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse, Oracle,
SQL Server, Cassandra, Elasticsearch โ through one Go agent (~15 MB)
โ AI plan narration + index recommendations grounded in YOUR workload
โ Three deploy modes: SaaS, BYOC (data plane in your VPC), or
Sovereign (fully air-gapped for fintech / healthcare / gov)
โ ~1/3 the price of Datadog DBM at every tier
What's free, forever:
* Free tier โ 3 databases, 7-day retention, no credit card
๐ https://obsfly.live/?utm_source=...
* Free database tools (slow query analyzer, EXPLAIN parser, lock visualizer)
๐ https://obsfly.live/tools?utm_so...
The bet behind Obsfly: database monitoring shouldn't be a luxury good.
The three things every team actually needs โ slow-query attribution,
plan-change alerts, and lock visibility โ are the DEFAULT in Obsfly,
not the enterprise tier.
I'd love your honest take on three things:
1. The BYOC model โ does "control plane SaaS, data plane in your VPC"
resonate, or would you rather run the whole thing yourself?
2. Which database is most painful for you to monitor today, and what
does your current tool miss?
3. What's the ONE thing Datadog DBM does that you'd genuinely miss if
you switched?
I'm in the comments all day. Roast it, question it, ask anything โ
the harder the question the better the product gets.
