Hey Product Hunt! I'm yocreoquesi, maker of NukeBG , and yeah, the name is a bit on the nose. It nukes backgrounds. That's the whole pitch. Honest disclaimer: this is not intented to dethrone any heavy duty tool. It's a small open-source tool I built with the help of Claude because I kept needing to remove backgrounds from random stuff, a signature here, a product shot there, the occasional meme, and I didn't love uploading personal stuff to someone else's server just to get a transparent PNG back. So I made one that runs entirely in your browser. No backend, no signup, no "upgrade to remove watermark.", no telemetry, no cookies, but lots of fun and easter eggs! I tried my best making the UI useful and yet fun and easy to use with its own personality. You open the tab, drop the image, it does its thing, you close the tab. That's it. Does it work? It does! Most of the time nails it, however when the result isn't perfect I also included an editor to fine tune the results. A couple of things worth mentioning: - It's GPL-3.0 open source, so if you don't trust me (fair), you can read the code. - If running it on a random domain feels sketchy, you can self-host it locally, clone the repo, docker compose up, done. Your machine, your rules. - Works offline after the first load (PWA). Mostly I'm putting it out there hoping it's useful to a few of you. If it saves someone 30 seconds or one subscription, that's already a win for me. Happy to hear bug reports, weird edge cases, or just "hey, it ate my signature" feedback. That's how it gets better.
