Hi Product Hunt! š
I'm a solo indie developer and musician, and Note Pierce came from a pretty simple idea:
I'm already in my browser most of the time. What if some of those little breaks, the moments where I'd normally open another feed or doom scroll could become a few minutes of ear training instead?
Ten questions doesn't take very long, but those small sessions can add up.
So I built Note Pierce, an ear & rhythm training browser extension that stays close while you're already in your browser. šš¶
You can jump into a short drill during a break, or keep it beside you while browsing and practice a little more intentionally.
There are six training areas:
šµ Intervals ā recognize melodic and harmonic intervals
šµ Chords ā train chord qualities and more advanced harmony
šµ Scales ā recognize different scale sounds
šµ Progressions ā hear harmonic movement and common functions like VāI
šµ Inversions ā learn how changing the bass note changes what you hear
š„ Rhythm ā read, hear, tap along, and tap rhythms back yourself
And I didn't want the experience to stop at simply hearing something and choosing an answer.
You can tap rhythms back, compare your timing with the correct answer, explore notes on the built-in piano, replay sounds and choices, build your own drills, and come back to the exact things you're struggling with.
Note Pierce also includes:
š§ Review & Weak Spots ā missed items are tracked so you can see exactly where you struggle, then brought back with spaced repetition tailored to your weak spots.
š ļø Custom Drills ā build exercises around exactly what you want to work on
š Progress tracking ā mastery levels, practice history, recaps, and heatmaps
š 160 progressive levels across six training areas
šØ 10 themes + 50+ languages
š Privacy-first ā Your practice data stays on your device
My goal isn't to turn every free minute into "productivity." Sometimes you should absolutely just take a break. š
But when you do feel like practicing, I wanted ear training to be something that's already there easy to open, easy to do for a few minutes, and deep enough to keep exploring when you have more time.
You can start free with levels across every module, Review & Weak Spots, progress tracking, and custom drill creation.
For early supporters, Note Pierce Pro is $4.99 one time for lifetime access + future updates with code NOTEPIERCE ā 50% off through October 31, 2026.
