Normals is a network organized around communities. Members build their profile and reputation through the discussions, questions and answers they contribute in their field, from software and startups to self-hosting and privacy. Each community is an ActivityPub group, so it can be followed and joined from Lemmy, Mastodon and the rest of the fediverse. No advertising, no automated removals, no AI training on member content. Reach is earned, never purchased.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Baldur, the maker of Normals.
I built it because professional networks stopped being places to talk. Profiles became billboards, and the places where people actually discuss their work are anonymous, so nothing you say there counts toward who you are professionally. Normals puts all together. Your profile is your career, and your reputation comes from the questions you answer and the discussions you contribute in communities like software, startups, self-hosting or privacy.
Every community is an ActivityPub group. You can follow it from Lemmy or Mastodon and reply from your own instance, and the reply lands in the thread here. Some communities already mirror established fediverse communities, so there is activity from day one.
What I committed to is to not advertising, no automated removals, no AI training on member content, and reach that is earned rather than purchased. The paid tier is cosmetic only and the feed does not know who pays.
It is a solo project and it is early. The feedback I need most, does the professional identity plus communities combination make sense to you, and which community would you want to see first?
