For a while I’ve wanted pick up some of the words I encounter while reading that I don’t understand. I've really enjoyed using Duolingo for language learning, but I couldn't find an equivalent level of enjoyable + educational in the vocabulary space. So I made this app, which lets you save words that you want to learn (either from the app's repository of words, or from searching your own). The app takes words you've saved and fetches 20-50 example sentences for each word, then generates fill-in-the-blank style multiple-choice quizzes from those sentences. The idea is that the quizzes present the words in context over and over, allowing you to get repeated exposure to how they are used in sentences and build understanding in a fun way! The goal is to help speakers of all levels, so we allow users to personalize their curriculum by saving any word they'd like to learn and provide all information (easy-to-understand-definition, 50+ example sentences, pronunciation) on the fly. We also want to make vocabulary building as fun and engaging as possible, so we focus heavily on gamification. We keep users encouraged by showing them their progress with each word, their global rank, and fun wordle-like daily challenges.
