So I started building specific places instead. I research a real location, then put it together sound by sound until it stops sounding like a track and starts sounding like somewhere. Some of it is curated from open sound libraries, and I've started going out to record my own. No Rush isn't a sound library. It's a place that keeps its own time. One of the places is a bamboo grove in Kyoto. Tall stalks knocking and creaking in the smallest breeze. The birds only turn up during the day, and it only rains there when it's actually raining in Kyoto, because every place runs on its own local hour and current weather.
