New Roof Calc is an independent US roof replacement cost calculator. Pick a material, roof area, pitch, and ZIP; the sheet returns an installed range — not one number — with material and labor split out and tear-off listed separately. Rates come from published cost guides and peer calculator tables; regional labor uses BLS OEWS wage ratios. Every sheet states what it does not price: deck repair, purlins, commercial work. No leads sold, no contractor bids. Free, no signup.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built New Roof Calc because every roof cost page I read handed me one number and no way to check it.
It's a US roof replacement cost calculator. You pick a material, roof area, pitch, and ZIP, and it returns an installed range with material and labor split out, and tear-off as its own line.
Three things I deliberately did:
📐 Pinned the units at the input. "1 roofing square" is 100 sq ft of roof surface, not of house. Mix those and the estimate is wrong by five figures at 2,000 sq ft.
🔢 Kept ranges as ranges. Nothing gets averaged to a midpoint — if you collapse $411–$666 to $538.50, you get one confident-looking number and lose the part that's actually useful.
🚫 Named what the sheet won't price — deck repair, purlins, commercial work — instead of padding the total with an allowance.
Who it's for: homeowners sanity-checking a bid before signing, and anyone who builds cost estimators for a living.
Rates are compiled from published cost guides and peer calculator tables, and regional labor uses BLS OEWS wage ratios. Not a survey, not RSMeans. No leads sold, no contractor bids, no signup.
I'd love feedback on the model itself — especially if you've had a roof replaced and the estimate missed in a specific direction. That's the most useful thing you could tell me 🙏
