Hi Product Hunt 👋
I'm Peter, the maker of NeatRead.
Most writing platforms make you choose one language audience, and most reading pages are crowded with ads, pop-ups and trackers. NeatRead is my answer to both.
What you get:
• Your own site at yourname.neatread.net, with a mailing list you can download any time
• Every post translated between English and Traditional Chinese, each at its own address search engines can find (edit the translation or turn it off)
• Import from Substack, Medium, WordPress or Ghost, subscribers included
• A quiet reader: no ads or trackers, five text sizes, Sepia/Dark/E-ink themes, highlights and notes, EPUB download, and audio
• Each new post emailed to members, a weekly digest, and analytics on who is actually reading
It's free. Add a Ko-fi, PayPal or Buy Me a Coffee link and readers can tip you directly; NeatRead takes 0%. Paid subscriptions aren't open yet; that's what I'm building next.
I'd love your honest feedback:
1. Writers: what would stop you from moving your newsletter here?
2. Readers: how does the reading page feel on your phone or e-reader?
3. Which language should come after English and Chinese?
Start a publication at neatread.net/writers, or just read at neatread.net. Thanks for taking a look!
Hi Neatread teams,
I read in both English and Chinese, and for years every reading app quietly assumed I only had one language. NeatRead is where I read now, every single day, which is how I notice the little things. Two of them got fixed today.
Newsletters used to switch languages halfway down, so I’d start an issue in Chinese and finish it in English. And some issues arrived as one long, unbroken line, because the writer had pasted their draft from Google Docs. Now they come through just as the writer meant them, paragraph by paragraph. Small things. But they’re exactly the things that make you quietly give up on a tool.
So I’m curious: where do you read your newsletters, and what keeps you there? If you’re open to something new, have a look at neatread.net.
I swapped the link to the main site since /writers is aimed at writers. Switch it back if you’d rather point there.
