A few years ago I was going through a difficult period — dealing with loneliness, depression, and poor mental health. I was living in Indore, a city of 3 million people, and I couldn't find a single person nearby who shared my interests. I wanted someone to watch F1 with, someone to play football with, a gym partner, a dance partner, someone to just sit and talk to. I knew these people existed somewhere in my city — but there was no way to find them. Instagram showed me what celebrities were doing. Google Maps showed me restaurants. Nothing showed me that there was someone 500 meters away who loved the same things I did and wanted to hang out. That specific pain — being surrounded by millions of people and still feeling completely alone — is what Nearwe is built to solve. Not loneliness as an abstract social problem. My loneliness. In my city. On a Tuesday afternoon. I know people need this because I was one of them. And when we launched in Indore, our early users didn't need to be convinced — they downloaded the app and immediately said "I've been looking for something like this." That's the signal I trust most. On domain expertise: I have spent the last 6–8 months talking obsessively to young people in Indore — in cafés, colleges, and WhatsApp groups — about how they actually socialize, what stops them from meeting new people, and what would make them step out. The pattern is consistent: the desire to connect is there, the infrastructure to act on it is not. Nearwe is that infrastructure.
