I built NayTube because I kept opening YouTube to watch some videos and found myself drifting into Shorts and regretted losing more time than I meant to.
I tried screen timers and blocking tools, but they didn’t help much. Eventually I realized the issue was the product experience itself was built around engagement features shorts, autoplay, feed recommendations. Intentional viewing and attention capture were bundled together.
NayTube is my attempt to separate the two. It keeps the parts of YouTube I actually want which is searching and watching specific videos but removes the parts that tend to pull me into passive scrolling. I tried to make it feel close to the native YouTube experience.
I haven’t watched Shorts in the last few days which is a win. Hopefully you find it useful as well :)
