Namelix is a great free branding tool to generate a business name for your startup. The tool uses artificial intelligence to generate short, catchy, and brandable names and also lets you filter the results using positive and negative keywords, short names preference, and domain name availability.

What do you think? …

The value proposition is TOP

I am SUPER impressed. @logojoy has been my new go to for side projects/rec. for friends for logos. Now if someone hasn't figured out the naming piece, this takes care of that for them. Super simple, but the recommendations are very high quality. In a quick test with a possible side project I have been thinking about for a while, I found 5-6 'hey, that could actually work well' quality options within minutes. All other name generation tools, like they alluded too, simply swap out pre-fix's etc. And are really not helpful in my experience. My new marketing/branding/identity side project stack is: 1. Namelix - name 2. Logojoy - logo and design identity (fonts, colors, etc) 3. Launchaco - marketing site This whole process is a super easy couple of hours. This is the best 80/20% for the value I have ever seen. With a little bit of basic design 'taste' when using these tools, your output can be 80% of what $10k+ would have historically gotten you.

In all this is a totally awesome tool, and one that has helped me name my new venture.

Pros:

Generates some really cool names, which even if you don't end up using, are sure to inspire

Cons:

No quick help/guide (or I couldn't find one) so it took me a while to figure out how to make the tool learn my preferences

I've created many startup brand names over the past couple fo years and this one makes phase one of the process a lot faster. Phase one is that initial brainstorming to get the creative juices flowing. After that, you're back to square one, you still need to take the ten best, add another 50 based on the inspiration you got from phase one, distill that down to 3, sleep over it and select one. Overall I would recommend this for any creative concepter or writer.

Pros:

Creative results

Cons:

Needs an additional round of brainstorming
