@nameroboten I havenβt spent enough time reviewing your product to feel like I can accurately judge it. However, products that get these sorts of reviews donβt usually become product of the day. This made me wonder if there was some gaming of the votes. Did you ask users, friends or third-parties to upvote for you or did it happen organically? That was what I was wondering.
@nathan_bannister To be honest, we are totally pleased and a little surprised that the feedback was so great (apart from some rigorous reviews, which also were very helpful and already triggered the first improvements). It looks like the people just like Namefruits. That's all, nothing weird about it :-)

@nameroboten I wanted to give it a try, and after about 20 questions, I was wondering how long will this take. It was right about then, when I noticed the bottom progress bar and percentage indicator. 3.11%. After 20 questions. Does that mean I have to answer about 600 questions or what? WTF?!
@maephisto Hi Marius, Thanks for your message. In fact, it takes a while for the profile to complete. Namefruits tries to find a unique name for you and your project. It therefore not only has to understand the topic, but also to get to know your taste. Namefruits not only generates keyword + something - names, but also other creative processed names (e.g. "Pinterest"), abbreviations, associative names ("Amazon", "Apple"), more or less fantasy names ("Google", "Yahoo"). But do not worry, most of the questions later you just have to say "like it" or "I do not like it". And you can just skip almost any questions you do not want to answer. Incidentally, if you know quite well that you e.g. are looking for a special word that needs to be creatively changed or supplemented, then you can do that very quickly and purposefully with NameRobot: https://www.namerobot.com/namero...

If Namefruits helps you find a good brand name that is trademarkable, then it is really good value for the price.
@niklaskari Thank you Niklas! Yes, that's what it's all about :-)

@nameroboten We recently branded our latest product. Brandbucket was used to come up with name candidates, but at least in our case the namecheck results we got from our IPR partner returned the lowest possible score for all those names. If the trademark piece works reasonably well, that is a valuable.
@niklaskari most startups are keen on an available .com-Domain and forget about a thorough trademark screening. Namefruits cares for this and other aspects in advance. The aim is that your name gets green light from your attorney and you have a save and strong name for your business.
Hey there, interesting product. I've got a bunch of notes stashed somewhere about creating a name generator, and this one seems pretty thorough.
In fact... it's a bit TOO thorough for me, and I gave up before getting to the end. The fact you don't announce upfront that it's paid isn't my biggest problem βΒ it's definitely a valuable service.
However, in light of this, I would recommend two things:
1) Show me examples of names you found for companies using your service.
2) Show a progress bar of the process when people start answering questions. I gave up because I had no idea how long it was going to take.
@davidoudiette Hi David, Thank you very much for your helpful thoughts. Actually, we have an price announcement but it seems many oversee it. We already discuss on different options to show the pricing early and clearly (besides the menu).
1) We would love to but Namefruits first is absolutely new out and we guarantee confidentiality. The users must first see that their name is protected, and so on, before they can tell us about it. But it's our turn to collect nice name references. That's a good point!
2) There is a green progress bar at the bottom of the screen. If you still don't see it please tell me your device/browser.
Thanks again!
@nameroboten
1) No worries! It's just nice to have some more proof/examples of the kind of outcomes you can expect from a product.
2) That's funny. Just as I typed my answer I thought "Wait, *was there* a progress bar?" I guess that just means it needs to be more obvious, haha.
@nameroboten I think you need to gamify it a bit more. It felt like I was filling out paperwork vs. something fun, bubbly and web 2.0 like.
Add some emojis and graphics to the emotions section. Give the user some interesting stats about what people are choosing/using the software for.
Even Turbo Tax was more fun as you can see your progress. Without knowing how close I was to getting some initial name recommendations, it felt like a neverending grind.
@livecoinwatchmb that's right. At first we focused on functionality and now work more on the look and feel.

There is something weird about this being number one product of the day. The overall responses are neutral at best. Maybe I am wrong but I would be interested in seeing who upvoted this.
@nathan_bannister Hi Nathan, Unfortunately, most reviews are negative or neutral. Almost all of these refer to the fact that you can not get approved names before payment. We have understood that and are working on it. :-)

I was starting to use it and it asked a bunch of the same questions (checkboxes and then individual windows)
You don't have category for apps or social media which is ridiculous. Quit after 5 minutes of answering questions.
Pros:It's an interesting idea
Cons:There's no real way to try it without registering, poor category choices for business types
