Hi all. I'm planting a food forest on my land in the Algarve, in southern Portugal. Every planning tool I could find was either for annual vegetable beds or written for cool, wet northern climates, so I built my own. You draw your plot on a satellite map and it estimates soil texture, annual rainfall, coldest-month low and slope orientation from the coordinates — SoilGrids and NASA POWER, both free and open — and asks you to confirm or correct them. Then you pick a main tree and it designs the guild: companions across the seven layers, drawn to scale at their mature spread on your actual plot. Two things I'd like feedback on. First, whether the first thirty seconds make sense to someone who's never heard the word "guild". Second, the plant suggestions themselves — they come from a curated species database via an LLM, which means they're occasionally confidently wrong, and that's the part I most want caught. It won't suggest anything that's illegal to plant in Portugal, which turned out to be a real problem worth solving — several classic permaculture nitrogen-fixers are on the national invasive list. Free, no signup, nothing for sale yet. Around 300 species, weighted towards Iberian and Mediterranean plants, so it'll be thinner if you're somewhere cold.
