Turn a blank session into an editable musical starting point. MotifPilot generates chords, bass, arp, and melody on iPhone and iPad. Choose your style, key, and tempo, preview the four parts together, then edit notes or explore variations. Save ideas locally and export combined or individual Standard MIDI files to import into a compatible DAW. Generation runs on your device, with no account required.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Dom, the maker of MotifPilot.
MotifPilot is built around a simple idea: a musical starting point should be easy to explore and yours to change.
Choose a style, key, and tempo to generate a sketch with chords, bass, arp, and melody. Listen to the parts together, edit the notes, or try another variation. When an idea clicks, export the MIDI and develop it further with your own instruments in a compatible DAW.
The generation engine runs locally on iPhone and iPad, and your saved projects stay on your device. The focus is on editable musical ideas that leave the creative decisions with you.
I'd love to hear how this fits your workflow: which part is hardest to get started with—chords, bass, or melody? And what would make a MIDI sketch more useful in your next session?
Thanks for taking a look!

I showed this to a composer friend coz I wanted his take. He looked at it and basically said, "I'd rather write the music myself" 😂 Fair point.
Then I realized the MIDI it gives you is still completely editable, which changes things a bit. You're not really stuck with what it comes up with - you can mess with it, change whatever you want, and keep going from there. I can see why that would be useful.
