Launching today
We took the top 3 Product Hunt launches and asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude the exact questions their buyers ask: “Best browser for Claude Code?” “How do I track agent run costs?” “Best open-source Grok alternative?” Nine answers. Zero mentions. AI sent their buyers elsewhere. That’s how AI search works. It pulls from pages it trusts—listicles, Reddit, comparisons, YouTube. If you’re not there, you’re not in the answer. MentionBird helps you fix that.

Salil, being able to open the actual answer behind a mention rate stood out to me. That should make it easier to understand what changed before deciding what to work on next. Congrats on the launch!
@oleksii_sekundant Thank you!
Congrats on launching MentionBird! Hope today's going well. We're launching Benson alongside you: https://www.producthunt.com/products/benson-2. Would appreciate a comment or some support if you have time today. Good luck with the launch!
@dougsilkstone1, thanks for the wishes and for being a part of our launch. All the very best from our team for your product.
Congrats on the launch — the "Ahrefs for AI Search" framing clicked instantly.
We checked our own AI referrals recently, and the honest numbers are humbling: single-digit sessions a week. Easy to dismiss at that size, but worth tracking anyway.
One GA4 gotcha we hit that others here might too: the "AI Assistant" channel group only catches part of the picture — our chatgpt.com sessions show up there, but Perplexity and Copilot land in plain "Referral", so channel-level views undercount AI traffic. Reading session source/medium directly is what surfaced ours. If you surface source-level splits, that distinction will save people real confusion.
@puppychris Thanks Chris, that’s a useful tip. One more blind spot: a lot of AI-driven traffic never shows up as an AI referral at all. People decide in ChatGPT, then search your brand on Google or type in your URL, so the visit lands as organic or direct. That’s why referral counts understate AI’s real impact, and why we measure how often you’re mentioned in the answers themselves.
Congrats on the launch, Salil! AI answers shift a lot between runs and with each user's memory and location. How many times do you sample each buying question per day before calling a brand "mentioned"? And do you show that as a share of answers or a single snapshot?
@prabahan_kalita Thanks! Agreed, a single answer means very little. We run each prompt once a day on every engine, from a location you choose, and count a mention per run. The number you see is a share of answers, not a snapshot: by default, the % of the last 30 daily runs where your brand appeared. We spread samples across days instead of firing many in one go because answers drift as models and their sources update, and that drift is what brands need to track. You can also open any individual run to see the raw answer behind the number.
How do you handle prompt wording? The same buyer question phrased two ways can name completely different brands, so I'm curious how many variants you track per question before calling something a trend
@lancelot_d_souza1 Good question. Wording matters less than you’d expect once you look at the aggregate. One phrasing can swing the results, but across a set of prompts covering the topic and 30 days of runs, the noise evens out. What matters is whether you show up in most answers or are mostly missing. Going from 10% to 60% is the real signal, not 60% versus 70%. So instead of tracking many versions of one question, we recommend tracking a handful of different prompts per topic.
