Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Saiyam, and I built Mehfil because I kept opening a music app to play one playlist and losing an hour to whatever the feed put in front of me. Mehfil (महफ़िल — an Urdu/Hindi word for a gathering where people come together to listen to music) does exactly one thing. You paste a playlist link, and it plays. First song to last, on one screen. No recommendations, no thumbnail grid, no next-video roulette. What it does: 🎧 Paste a link from YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Gaana or Deezer 🎤 Lyrics that light up line by line as they're sung 👥 Jam — start a room, friends join with a code, and every phone plays the same song at the same second 📵 The Android app downloads a whole playlist and plays it with no signal 🔒 No account needed, nothing to pay, no trackers, nothing sold The bit I'm most pleased with is the jam sync. I started by seeking to correct drift between phones, which was the wrong instrument — a seek is a stutter, so the threshold had to be loose, and 1.2s of loose is an audible flange in a room with two phones in it. Small errors are now corrected by *speed* instead: 3% is inaudible, and a phone 300ms out closes that in ten seconds with no break in the sound. Two honest things, because I would rather you hear them from me: it does not block ads (most songs play as plain audio that carries none; the few that only exist as video carry whatever the video carries), and the native app is Android-only for now because Apple wants a yearly fee.
