I have a lot of meetings, and I wanted to keep track of the next one without opening my calendar. The menu bar felt like the right place. I also wanted alerts to show useful information about the meeting, not simply announce that it had started.
I knew about In Your Face and Raycast's calendar integration. Raycast was close to what I wanted for the menu bar, but I wanted the full combination of persistent meeting visibility, detailed alerts, and quick access to join links. So I started building Meeting Alerter.
The first commit was three years ago. For a long time, the app worked well enough for me. Turning a personal tool into something other people could install and rely on took much more work than I expected. Honestly, I doubt I would have finished that part without help from LLMs.
Meeting Alerter supports Apple Calendar and multiple Google accounts. It shows upcoming meetings in the menu bar and provides detailed alerts with meeting information and a join button.
This isn't my first macOS app, but it is the first one I've shipped to the App Store. I'm curious how people with meeting-heavy days keep track of what's next, and what Meeting Alerter could do better.
