This app is incredibly useful for quick tasks I used to have to jump into Photoshop for — or web tools like Squoosh and ShortPixel. But unlike those, this one handles audio, video, and images. Nothing gets uploaded to a cloud server — everything stays local.
Need to export video frames to create a GIF for your website? Done. Need to shrink a batch of images to a specific size on the long edge? Yep. Want to build a looping GIF from a folder of images? Easy. Creating a GSAP scroll animation like the ones on Apple's website — essentially a sequence of still images exported from video? Handled.
And it's fast. Really fast.
Great price, great features, and the developers are genuinely responsive to feature requests. The long-edge resize option (set a dimension like 2048 and it scales proportionally) — that one was actually my suggestion, and they built it.
Hey everyone 👋
I built Media Converter for Devs as a small local-first Mac utility for converting video, audio, and image files without cloud uploads, accounts, or heavy editing software.
It started from my own dev/game asset workflow, but I think it can be useful for other developers, creators, and indie makers too.
I’d love your feedback, especially on which formats, presets, or export controls would make it more useful.
