A sleek, lightweight Progressive Web App for viewing Markdown files on any device. Open localmd files with the system file picker, read them beautifully formatted with syntax-highlighted code blocks, and export to PDF or plain text, all offline, all private.
With the rise of tools like ChatGPT and Claude, Markdown has quietly become the default format for rich, structured responses. It’s simple, flexible, and incredibly powerful.
But here’s the problem I ran into:
- Reading Markdown files on mobile still feels… clunky.
- Most tools exist, but very few feel truly mobile-first.
So I built a small solution:
MD View: a lightweight, open-source Markdown viewer that actually works well on mobile as well.
💡 Key highlights:
- File picker + drag & drop support
- Multi-Tab Support
- Paste & instant preview (GFM rendering)
- VS Code–level syntax highlighting (via Shiki)
- Light/Dark mode (auto + manual)
- Export + full offline support (PWA)
