Markra is a local-first, WYSIWYG Markdown editor with native AI collaboration. Built with Tauri, it weighs under 6MB and runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Unlike editors that bolt an AI chat panel onto the sidebar, Markra treats AI as a core part of the writing flow — select text to rewrite, translate, or summarize in context. Your files stay on disk, fully portable, fully yours.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Markra because I couldn't find a Markdown editor that was both minimal and AI-native.
Every editor I tried had the same problem: either it was clean but had no AI (Typora), or it had AI but felt like an IDE (Obsidian, Cursor). I wanted something in between — a quiet place to write, with AI that helps without getting in the way.
A few things that make Markra different:
AI is woven into the editor, not a sidebar chatbox. Select text, hit a shortcut, and rewrite/translate/summarize in place.
Truly local-first. Your files are plain Markdown on disk. No vendor lock-in, no cloud required.
~6MB install. Built with Tauri + Milkdown (MIT), not Electron.
WYSIWYG that actually works. Math, code highlighting, Mermaid diagrams, callouts — all rendered live.
It's still early (v0.1.20), but it's already usable daily. The GitHub repo has 249 stars and 10 forks after one week.
I'd love to hear what you think — feature requests, complaints, or just "hey it works." Happy to answer any questions below.
