Hello everyone! I am Meharban, the CTO of MarkingLab.
We built MarkingLab from a problem we experienced firsthand as both former students and instructors.
As students, we saw how much feedback could vary depending on who graded an assessment and how generic it sometimes was. When feedback comes back week(s) later, we would have already moved on to new topics and forgotten the context, making the feedback much harder to act on. As instructors, we experienced the other side: grading dozens of detailed submissions can take hours, making it difficult to provide timely, consistent and meaningful feedback while keeping up with everything else.
We started by exploring how AI could simply make grading faster. But through conversations with instructors and our work validating the idea in a university setting, we realized speed alone wasn't enough. The real challenge was making AI grading consistent, transparent, rubric-driven, and useful to instructors.
That shaped MarkingLab into what it is today: an AI grading assistant that provides personalized feedback, follows the instructor's rubric, explains deductions, and keeps the instructor in control.
We're launching on Product Hunt to get MarkingLab in front of more educators, learn from how they grade today, and continue building this with instructors rather than just for them.
