A great use of the private maps feature that I thought of while doing the last Periscope update would be for youth organizations. Activities like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little League, Soccer, etc.. always need to give location information for events. With the world we live in, it would be an advantage to keep those password protected so only those who need have access to the information.
That's a great point (I'm not just bolstering your post - I hadn't thought of that use case before). It also highlights a key difference in MapFig from all other mapping services. Any map made with mapfig, be it self-hosted, our free public cloud, etc.. includes password-protection for maps. For those just looking into the mapping market, the current minimum cost for the major mapping providers for password-protected maps is $149 per month(!). No kidding.
