Why does learning about what’s happening in the world so often feel like choosing a side?
A lot of news and social media content is presented through a particular narrative. You see one interpretation, then another completely opposing interpretation, and it becomes difficult to step back and understand the actual issue.
The idea behind MakeTeams is to present news through a different lens.
Instead of simply “what happened?”, the platform breaks an issue down into:
Who is in conflict?
Why are they in conflict?
What is each side’s narrative?
What evidence and sources support those narratives?
How did the event unfold?
What historical context led us here?
The goal is not to tell people which side is right.
The goal is to help people understand an issue before deciding what they think about it.
Think of it more like a Wikipedia for understanding conflicts and current events, rather than another news site.
The web app will be free to use. I’m not planning to put the core experience behind a subscription. If people find value in it, there will simply be a way for them to support the project voluntarily, similar to a patron model.
I’m posting this here because I’d like to validate the problem and the concept, not just get feedback on the implementation.
For the founders and startup people here:
Does this solve a problem you recognize?
