Hi Product Hunt, I built this because the light switch was all the way over there and I was all the way over here. I'd been daydreaming about pointing at things for years. The problem always seemed to need cameras, or ultra-wideband beacons, or a mmWave sensor in every room. Then it occurred to me that the watch already knows which way my arm is pointing. It just doesn't know what's over there. So you tell it. You "paint" a device: point at the lamp and sweep your arm at it for a few seconds, wandering a little, the way you'd spray-paint it. That records a bundle of directions from the places you actually stand. After that, a snap is a toggle. When it guesses wrong, you correct it, and the correction becomes training data. The hard part wasn't pointing, it was rooms. Aiming at the ceiling light looks identical in every room in the house. So the watch also listens for the Bluetooth signature of each room, and the two kinds of evidence vote on where you are. Everything runs on the watch. No cameras, no cloud, no account, and I never see your data because there is nowhere for it to go. Things I'll tell you before you find them: the watch app has to be on screen when you snap, because watchOS won't let a third-party app watch for gestures in the background. The workaround testers landed on is assigning a hand gesture to launch it, so the whole move is clench, point, snap. And if snapping with your watch hand is awkward, there's a Tap trigger instead.
