Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Swaraj Puppalwar, an 18-year-old developer from India and the Founder & CTO of Lioran Developer Solutions (LDS).
Today, October 23, 2026, I'm excited to introduce LioranDB v2 Alpha, a NoSQL document database I've been building in Rust since early 2025! 🦀
Why did I build LioranDB?
I started programming when I was 11, and over the years, I became fascinated by how databases, storage engines, and distributed systems actually work.
While working with MongoDB and other developer tools, one question kept coming to mind:
Why can't we build our own developer infrastructure in India, for developers around the world?
That question eventually became LioranDB.
What started as a personal engineering experiment has grown into a working database engine, a managed cloud service, developer documentation, and an ecosystem I'm continuing to build through LDS.
Here's what we've achieved so far:
Built a NoSQL document database in Rust.
Launched LioranDB Cloud Service with dedicated database instances.
Migrated my own backend applications from MongoDB to LioranDB.
Tested real-world workloads on a VPS, reaching approximately 15,000 combined operations per second in internal benchmarks.
Welcomed our first 8 cloud registrations, with 4 early users trying LioranDB.
One of my favorite moments was seeing my own database running behind my actual applications. After spending so much time building the engine, finally using it felt incredible. ❤️
But we're still in alpha.
I'm not claiming LioranDB is better than MongoDB or ready to replace mature databases. There are still many challenges ahead, particularly around reliability, storage, backup and recovery, compatibility, and performance optimization.
And that's exactly why I'm launching here.
I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback on:
What would convince you to try a new NoSQL database?
Which features or compatibility requirements matter most to you?
What concerns would stop you from using LioranDB in production?
What would you improve about our documentation, cloud platform, or developer experience?

My long-term vision is to build independent, globally competitive developer infrastructure from India.
I'm still learning, still building, and there's a long road ahead.
Thank you for checking out LioranDB v2 Alpha. Your honest feedback would mean a lot to me!
Built with curiosity, persistence, and a lot of Rust. 🦀
