I built LambiPdf because I wanted to handle everyday PDF tasks without uploading documents to a processing server.
It now has 26 tools covering page organisation, compression, redaction, password protection, watermarks, signature image placement, and existing form fields. It also converts PDF tables to Excel/CSV, spreadsheets to PDF, images to and from PDF, and PDF ↔ EPUB.
A recent addition is on-device OCR with 45 language options. Scanned pages can be recognised within the text and table extraction workflows, rather than requiring a separate OCR-and-reimport step.
The application uses plain JavaScript with PDF.js, pdf-lib, JSZip and Tesseract.js. OCR workers, WASM and language models are self-hosted; document processing happens in the browser. The document-opening interface excludes advertising and analytics scripts, although informational pages may load them.
There are trade-offs. Large documents depend on the device’s memory and CPU. Complex tables need review, OCR can make mistakes, and PDF-to-EPUB reconstructs reading order rather than preserving the fixed layout. Some operations rasterise affected pages.
The tools are free and don’t require an account. I’m still improving the workflows, especially mobile editing and conversion accuracy.
I’d appreciate examples of PDFs that behave unexpectedly—using non-sensitive samples—and feedback on which tasks feel unnecessarily complicated.
