Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I built Kotoba Tanken because I wanted a simple, child-friendly way for young kids to build Japanese vocabulary. Many vocabulary apps are either made for adults learning Japanese, or focus mainly on memorization. I wanted something more visual and gentle — an app where children can explore words through pictures, audio, and simple quizzes at their own pace. Another challenge I wanted to solve was language support. Many families raising bilingual or multilingual children need Japanese alongside another language. That’s why Kotoba Tanken supports English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean as both app languages and secondary learning languages. The app includes everyday categories like animals, food, vehicles, daily objects, seasons, Japanese culture, and onomatopoeia.
