I built Kookini because I was tired of the same problem: finding a great recipe online, but then having no easy way to organize it, plan my week around it, or know what I'm actually eating nutritionally.
Existing apps either just save links (no structure) or require you to manually type everything (too slow). I wanted something where I could snap a photo of a recipe from a cookbook, paste a URL, or even just say "I made pasta with tomato sauce last night" — and have it all parsed into ingredients, steps, and nutrition automatically.
The hardest part was making nutrition estimation work even when the recipe source has zero nutrition data. I ended up building a local food database with 96+ ingredients across 6 languages, plus an AI fallback for fuzzy quantities like "a pinch of salt" or "适量酱油".
It's been a solo dev journey — Flutter on the client, Python on the backend. Would love your feedback!
