knot: Private AI Notes | Product Hunt

Hi, I made knot. Plaud and Pocket sell dedicated hardware for AI notes. If you own a supported iPhone, I think you can skip it. Your phone already has the microphones, storage, and processing power this job needs. knot lets you type a note or record something, transcribe it locally, and turn it into a summary, task list, set of decisions, or a format you define. You can add the result to a local vault and find connections between your notes later. The processing happens on your iPhone. knot does not require an account, upload your recordings for transcription, run your prompts through a cloud language model, or collect analytics. It costs $14.99 once. Your vault is stored as readable Markdown in On My iPhone/knot. You can inspect the files, export them, and see the source material behind generated notes. I did not want people's recordings trapped inside a service that might change its price, terms, or priorities later. There is a hardware requirement. knot currently supports the iPhone 17 family, iPhone Air, and newer iPhones running iOS 26. The downloadable models also need several gigabytes of storage. Once those models are installed, your notes, recordings, transcripts, and prompts stay on the device unless you decide to share them. Dedicated recorders still make sense when you need specialized microphones, long recording range, or phone call capture. For everyday voice notes and private knowledge, carrying another device and paying another subscription seemed unnecessary. That is why I built knot.
