Learn to read hiragana and katakana with Kanapow. Turn any English word into Japanese kana with a mora-by-mora breakdown and tap-to-hear pronunciation — plus free interactive kana charts and a romaji converter.
The kana charts and tap-to-hear feature are a really nice touch for beginners, but I think a spaced repetition mode for the mora-by-mora drills would take this to the next level. Maybe quiz me on the ones I keep missing and gradually fade out the ones I nail. Would make it way easier to actually retain everything instead of just tapping through once.
@zmrakibl Oh that's a great idea, let me see what I can do! Spaced repetition definitely helps for language learning.
A small thing that would help me a lot: when I tap a mora in the breakdown, also show the romaji underneath so I can connect the sound to the spelling while I'm still learning. Right now I keep flipping back to the converter to double check what I'm hearing.

tried converting my name and the mora-by-mora breakdown actually helped me see how the syllables line up. the tap-to-hear pronunciation is a nice touch for getting used to the sounds
