The Problem: We've all been there—staring at Slack, trying to explain why that "2-hour task" took 3 days, or why production went down at 3 AM. The awkward dance between honesty and professionalism is real. The Inspiration: After sending my 47th message that started with "Due to unforeseen technical complexities..." I realized we all speak the same corporate/technical dialect when buying time. Why not automate it? What It Does: justify.dev generates professional (and hilarious) excuses for: Missed deadlines Bugs in production Delayed replies Postponed features Choose your tone (Corporate 🧑‍💼, Technical 🤓, Honest 🤡, or Blunt 😐) and get instant justification. The Approach: I used an HRID-style algorithm that randomly combines technical jargon, corporate buzzwords, and real dev situations to create thousands of unique excuses. It's like Mad Libs for software engineers. Built with Next.js 16, TypeScript, and shadcn/ui—because if I'm going to procrastinate, might as well use modern tools. Why It Exists: This is 100% satirical, but also 100% usable. It's a love letter to every developer who's ever needed to explain "it works on my machine" in professional terms. Please use responsibly. Or don't. I'm not your manager. 😈 Would love to hear your favorite excuse categories or tones you'd like to see added!
