Japan Geography Master（日本地理マスター） is an educational app for elementary school students in Japan. Its main feature is a set of tappable interactive maps built with GeoJSON, helping children connect place names with real locations and geographic features. It also includes over 1,500 flashcards and 1,800 quizzes covering prefectures, mountains, rivers, plains, climate, agriculture, fisheries, and more. It supports school learning and junior high school entrance exam preparation. Japanese only.
This looks really solid for kids studying geography. One thing that would help a lot, honestly, is adding audio pronunciation for all those place names and geographic terms. Japanese kids could hear how to say them correctly, and it would also make the app way more useful for younger learners or anyone struggling with reading kanji. A simple tap-to-hear button on each location would do the trick.

I’m actually working on an audio learning feature so children can hear place names and geographic terms while studying the flashcards. A simple tap-to-hear option is very close to what I have in mind.

Tapping through the prefectures map made me actually remember where Shimane is, which never stuck from textbooks. Solid study tool for kids prepping for entrance exams.

Love that the maps are tappable and GeoJSON based, makes it feel real instead of just memorizing from a list. One thing I'd add: a simple audio pronunciation button for each place name, especially the tricky ones like Shizuoka or Fukushima. Kids hear it, say it, remember it way better.

That’s a great suggestion—and actually very close to what I’m currently working on. I’m planning to add audio playback to the flashcards so children can hear each place name while studying. I also love the idea of making pronunciation especially accessible for learners outside Japan.
