Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm the indie developer behind ivyNote, and I'm excited to finally share what I've been building!
🌿 Why I built ivyNote
I've always loved Markdown and the idea of keeping my notes in a simple, portable format.
But I kept running into the same trade-offs: some note-taking apps are great offline but make syncing complicated. Others sync well but give you less control over your data. And with AI becoming part of my daily workflow, I wanted my notes to work naturally with AI tools too.
So I started building ivyNote — a calm, lightweight, local-first home for my notes and ideas.
✨ What makes ivyNote different?
📝 Local-first writing: Your notes are saved on your device first. Keep writing even without an internet connection.
🔄 Multi-device sync: Pick up where you left off, with three-way merging to handle concurrent edits.
🔗 Connected knowledge: Organize notes with folders, tags, backlinks, and a knowledge graph.
🤖 AI & MCP integration: Ask questions across your notes and connect them to AI tools like Claude.
🔓 Portable Markdown: Import existing notes and export your data whenever you want.
💻 Cross-platform: Available for macOS, Windows, Linux, and the web.
What's next?
I'm working toward self-hosted sync and native mobile apps. My long-term goal is to make ivyNote a place where your knowledge stays accessible, connected, and under your control.
💚 I'd love your feedback!
ivyNote is still young, and I'm building it with developers, technical writers, and people who care about owning their notes in mind.
I'm especially curious:
What's the one thing that would make you switch from your current note-taking app?
