I've run a small press for over 15 years now (Horrific Tales), and my biggest monthly headache was always the royalty run. It used to take me hours to combine all my data sources into a single source of truth just to work out who needed to get paid and how much. All the products on the market seemed to be cloud-based with hefty subscription models. I honestly did not want to send my sensitive financial data to a third-party cloud server, nor did I want to pay yet another monthly subscription. I've been using the Imprint royalty software for a month now. I was lucky to find it while trying to dig my way through royalty statements to authors. It is so time consuming to compile all the royalty information from Ingram, Amazon, B&N, etc as well as sales to independent book stores (& calculate the net income) to determine the royalties due to authors. It was giving me a headache. I entered the 2026 data to give it a try then started working backwards. I entered ten years of data in a few hours. I found this software useful not only for royalty statements but for seeing long term trends. (Much easier to see than in Quickbooks or spreadsheets) I am now considering changing my marketing strategies as a result. Moonstruck was very responsive to questions and suggestions for how to improve the software. The image below shows the Imprint dashboard display for my 2025 data. I like the fact that the database is securely located on my own computer, not in a "cloud" in a data center somewhere.
