The idea for Impact Local came from an encounter while walking down the street in NYC. I came across a person in need and wanted to help out, but didn't have his wallet. Then it hit me... why isn't there a way for people to pull out their phones, find the local food bank and donate $10? Impact Local seeks to both disrupt a large addressable market (almost $500b!) and positively benefit society. Only 12% of donations in the US are done online today and the data shows that younger generations (especially millennials) are already more generous on average than older generations.
