Hey Hunters! 👋
My name is Vins, and I'm the solo maker behind howtocsv.com. Like many of you, my daily work is full of CSV files. Export from Shopify, contact lists, bank statements... you name it. And for years, every time I needed to do something "simple" like merging two files with slightly different names, I faced a frustrating choice:
Spend 30 minutes wrestling with confusing Excel formulas.
Fire up a Jupyter Notebook and write a Python script (total overkill!).
So, I decided to build it.
howtocsv.com is a suite of 30+ tools designed to make data wrangling easy for everyone, not just developers.
Here are a few things you can do:
🧠 Chat with your Data: The first thing you'll see. I integrated the Gemini API so you can literally ask questions to your dataset via text or voice.
🪄 Fuzzy Join & Dedupe: This is the killer feature. Merge two CSVs based on approximate matches (like "Coca-Cola" vs "Coca Cola Inc."). This alone can save hours of manual work.
📄 PDF to CSV: Rescues data trapped in tables inside PDF files.
🛠️ The Classics: All the tools you'd expect, like Smart Merging, Pivot Tables, Cleaning, Filtering, and a blazing-fast CSV to XLSX converter that actually works.
🔒 Privacy-Focused: Most standard operations run entirely client-side in your browser. Your data stays with you.
My goal is to democratize data work. You shouldn't need to be a programmer to clean a mailing list or analyze a sales report.
