Humla records your mic and the call's audio through macOS — no bot joins the meeting. It transcribes, labels who said what, and writes a summary that fuses your notes with the transcript. Run it fully on-device with Whisper on Apple Silicon, or bring your own AI key. Free, MIT-licensed, and yours: local SQLite, no telemetry, optional team sync using Humla Cloud or can be self-hosted.
Hey PH 👋 I'm Michael, I built Humla solo on evenings.
I was using Notion AI Meeting Summaries and quickly hit my limits. After trying a few others, as well as other Open Source apps I wasn't happy with what was available. I decided to make something for myself and my team. It grew from there, becoming a passion project for me. I'm really proud of the current state of the app and would love others to use it as well. It's been invaluable in client meetings, taking our after meeting work down from hours to a few minutes.
As for the app, it's entirely free. Local transcription + AI summaries or BYOK.
On top of Humla is Humla Cloud, made for shared Team Workspaces. $5 per user per month.
finally tried humla during a standup and the on-device whisper just worked, no bot popping into the call felt so much less weird. the speaker labels nailed it even with three people mumbling
Love that it captures both mic and system audio without needing a bot to sit in on your calls, that's a tricky thing to pull off on macOS and they made it feel invisible.
finally a meeting tool that doesn't force a bot to join and doesn't ship my conversations off to some server somewhere. love that the sqlite stays local and you can swap in your own ai key, that's the kind of respect for users you basically never see in this space.
