Includes nine interface languages, syntax highlighting, local images, math, Mermaid diagrams, themes and adjustable typography. Free and open source, with macOS, Windows and Linux downloads. Version 0.2.0 is a development preview; live editing and rendering compatibility are still evolving.

Astra helped me take HUI from an idea for a clean Markdown tool to an open-source desktop preview built with Rust and Slint, without a WebView. Working in Codex, it helped with implementation, debugging, nine-language localization, testing, and packaging for macOS, Windows, and Linux. This made it practical to pursue native rendering and cross-platform delivery together. It also helped identify limitations: live editing, rendering compatibility, PDF text fidelity, and performance targets remain documented work in progress.

Hi Product Hunt! I built HUI to make local Markdown writing and reading feel calmer, with a clean native interface and no WebView. HUI uses Rust, Slint and a native document renderer. It offers source editing, synchronized split preview, reading mode, nine UI languages, local file management and adjustable typography. No account or cloud service is required. This is an early, open-source desktop preview. macOS Apple Silicon and Windows/Linux x64 and ARM64 packages are available on GitHub. Live editing, strict rendering compatibility and performance benchmarks are still works in progress; mobile apps are not ready yet. I would love feedback on typography, multilingual text and everyday editing. Which part of your Markdown workflow should HUI improve next?
