Checks a page's hreflang annotations against Google's documented rules: HTML link tags and HTTP Link headers, ISO 639-1 language and ISO 3166-1 region codes, x-default, self-reference and canonical mismatches. It also fetches up to 10 alternates to verify each one links back, because Google ignores a declaration without a return link. An offline validate endpoint covers staging HTML. Returns a score, grade and issues with stable codes.

Hi, hreflang breaks quietly: one missing return link and Google ignores the whole declaration. This API fetches the page, validates every declaration, then fetches up to 10 alternates (the first 10 in declaration order) and checks that each links back. If some alternates could not be checked, the response says so with returnLinks.partial. Not covered, stated in the docs: XML sitemap hreflang, JavaScript rendering, judging a page's actual language, and which version Google really serves. Feedback welcome.
