I built this because I kept running into the same annoying loop: iPhone photos are often HEIC, but many places still expect JPG (Windows apps, older systems, some websites, email attachments, quick sharing, etc.). Most “quick converters” I found either required uploading personal photos to a server, signing up, or clicking through ads — which felt risky and frustrating when you just want a simple conversion. So the goal became very clear: a fast HEIC → JPG converter that’s privacy-first. Something you can open, drag-and-drop, convert, and download — without accounts, and without sending images anywhere. During the build, my approach evolved in a few key ways: From “works” to “trustworthy”: privacy is the whole point, so I focused on making the local-only approach clear and easy to verify (not just a marketing claim). From single-file to real-world usage: people convert dozens of photos at once, so the UX had to be optimized around batch workflows and large files. From prototype to performance: HEIC files can be heavy, so I iterated on speed, memory usage, and reliability across browsers/devices. In the end, it’s a simple tool with a very specific promise: convert HEIC to JPG quickly, without compromising your privacy.
